Jennifer Quashnick

Jennifer Quashnick has loved the Lake Tahoe area her entire life. Jennifer holds a Master's degree in Environmental Science and Health and has spent twenty years advocating for scientifically supported policy-making to protect Lake Tahoe’s environment and rural communities. She also makes a point to spend regular time hiking with her dogs, Bella and Avi, refreshed by the beauty of the Sierra Nevada and the joy of being outdoors.

Jennifer's creative side emerged when she adopted Bella and became inspired by the dog’s antics. The Mountaingirl Mysteries series is a result of regular time outdoors; years of hard work in environmental science, planning, and politics; and a dog named Bella. In 2016, Jennifer and Bella added a new canine member to their family; readers will get to know more about Bella's younger "sister," Avi, in Sierra Nevada Dangerous Developments.

Raised on a small ranch in northern California, Jennifer’s childhood revolved around an outdoor lifestyle with weekends and summers spent in the mountains. Jennifer loves all the Sierra Nevada has to offer, although she is most fond of hiking, snowshoeing, and downhill skiing, and is typically accompanied by Bella and Avi—the true stars of her books.
